Are these possibly Polyporus melanopus or brumalis?

Found on beech.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Dave,

I'm pretty rubbish with these polypores but I would discount P.brumalis (I don't think this species has the black cuticle on the lower stipe).

Polyporus leptocephalus also has a 'black foot' but this doesn't look quite right for that.....

Cheers,
Nick

Ok , many thanks Nick.

I see that Polyporus leptocephalus is more commonly associated with Quercus but i suppose it wouldn't discount it fruiting from other hardwood substrates? say Fagus for example?
