yeah, it just seems large for a sparrowhawk. as you say that, i have female sparrow that lands in my garden and i only my phone. I will upload it soon
 
hi phil looks very much like goshawk for me we still get the odd one back home in the peak district not half as much as we used to for obvious reasons i now reside in norfolk get the odd one here if you know where to look happy birding m
 
Looks like a 2cy Sparrowhawk... would need to see tarsi and/or feet to guess sex, but could be a female
