Hello,
I hope this is the right forum for this question...
I'm using a coolpix 4500 with a borrowed Bushnell 60mm scope.
Also doing a lot of reading etc. on the 77-82mm ED range scopes.
Being new to digiscoping, a couple of basic questions come up.
There's going to be lots of trial and errors and would like to start
eliminating some potential errors right away.
If for some reason (bad eyesight!
- the scope is not sharply focused
on a subject, will the camera's auto focus over-ride it and bring the
subject back into focus? Or is that first focusing with the scope very
crucial and determines the final outcome of your finished shot?
Are your shots only "as good as the scope" ? I realize there's a little
more you can do in "photoshop" etc.. but I'd like to do the best I can
before editing the shots at the computer.
I also wear glasses (bifocals) and sometimes would rather trust the
"auto-focus" mode on the camera! On my older 35mm nikons my
perferred focus was using a manual circular split-screen fresnel.
When using just the scope (at 20x - 50' distance) I don't see very much
differece with or without my glasses as far as a getting sharp image...
it just doesn't look super sharp. Maybe I need new glasses.
The fact that it's cloudy & overcast is not helping. Full sun might be a
lot different.
