Theristicus branickii Andean Ibis is recognised by Monroe & Sibley 1993.

AOU-SACC:
Sibley & Monroe (1990) considered branickii as separate species ("Andean Ibis") from melanopis; anecdotal observations (Vizcarra 2009) suggest that the two taxa segregate where they occur sympatrically during nonbreeding season. Proposal?
