Hmmmm..... not so simple, this one. Before changing them I checked with Avibase and there are several instances of this spelling having been used over several authors, including Clements, Howard and Moore and the IOC. https://avibase.bsc-eoc.org/species....C652E6EB81E01F A similar problem occurred with some kingfishers (Todiramphus/Todirhamphus comes to mind). Might be an idea to look back at that one to see how it was handled?

Hi again Joe
I've now amended the GSearch, and it seems to work OK, finding both versions of the name. Just needs a note now on the article and maybe the Genus page two explaining the spelling difficulty; and a Redirect. There is no point editing the images directly, as that may be an ongoing job for as long as people have the relevant lists/field guides in use.

Good job on fixing GSearch. Thanks for that. I had to make a redirect for the correct spelling to link correctly to Opus. The genus page already had the correct spelling, but the Opus page did not. Up to you whether to correct the old gallery contributions. I'm not sure I see a downside to it. Most of the newer images coming in to the gallery have the spelling correct.

Once the Re-directs are in place, there's really little point in doing the amendments on the Gallery pictures Joe. You'd be surprised at how long some of the 'old' names continue coming in.
The 'downside' for me is just time.... I've a bit of a backlog of work to be done, and it really isn't necessary now.

The "Giant Petrel" here has the scientific name for the Imperial Cormorant. Scientific name should be Macronectes giganteus. English name "Southern Giant Petrel"
