Pelagic Trips (1 Viewer)

Hi All

I am looking for any helpful info / sites to give me information about Pelagic trips from the UK.

I have heard that the 'biscay' trip @ beginning of sept is good; however some people say its better from Portsmouth - Bilbo others Plymouth - Santandar.

This will be my first trip so please do not make assumptions on my knowlege level :eat:

Both can be very good. If you also hope to do some birding when docked I think Portsmouth-Bilbao is better for that as options in Santander are more limited than at Santurtzi (where the ferry docks near Bilbao).

Thanks for the info. As this will be my first time in spain, any pointers on where to go once the boat docks ? or can you or anybody suggest any websites or reading

You follow a path round which snakes up the side of the hill behind Santurtzi. There is (or at least was) a reasonable guide on Surfbirds which suggests you can hire a taxi to go up the hill and save some time. The group I was with saw Fan-tailed Warbler, Serin, Melodious Warbler, Griffon Vulture, Sardinian Warbler, Black Redstart and Red-backed Shrike without the need for the taxi as well as butterflies including Swallowtail and Continental Speckled Wood.
