Following Olsson et al 2013, S. [curruca] althaea, Hume's Whitethroat...?

Looks a bit too far west to be a Hume's whitethroat ? (well, going by the maps on Xeno-canto which is what I usually use as a quick reference....).https://www.xeno-canto.org/species/Sylvia-althaea

Would be delighted if it was though !!!

Doubt if you've got enough on the bird to be certain, but many people are better than I am at identifying the taxa in that complex.... My tentative thought was Ménétriés' Warbler, but I've seen only two...

Oh, I should also have mentioned that Cai et al 2019 place most Sylvia warblers in Curruca and that strictly they are babblers, not warblers, hence Curruca [curruca] althaea...
Careless of me...

The Lesser Whitethroat in image 11 looks darker than it really is, with the head being partly covered in shadow - this may be a result of very harsh light. If you adjust the image a little, you can clearly see the mask and contrast between the grey ahead and nape and dull brownish upperparts. It also looks a little dainty for Hume's.

The black kite looks eastern - is that the default for the area?

Yes, when we had visitors from Europe in Lebanon for helping with migration counts we often had to gently point out that they hadn’t really seen a few hundred Red Kites go through but these eastern Black Kites!

Sorry just a couple of final Qs.
1/ Any idea what the "falco species" number 9 in post #2 above could be ?
2/ Also originally I thought the attached bird was the same but I took it at a different time in the eastern desert near Syria. Not much to go on from this quick record shot but any ideas ? The red colour may be over-amplified by photoshop to emphasise any distinguishing features/colour.
3/ The other photo attached I though originally was just a blackstart as there were many around but it looks a bit too buff rather than grey. A female wheatear ? If so any idea which species ?
Thanks
Tony
