Missing Mute

At a pond on my work estate there are a few ponds which two mite swans have residence at.

This year they had 7 signets. Two sadly died. But the stranger thing at the moment is that one of the parents has went missing the last few days and hasnt been found.

Is there any other possible explanation other than it has died?
