Can anyone advise what this butterfly is? Found in Amber Mountain National Park in NW Madagascar earlier this month, an open area bordering forest. Thank you!

This is one of the Acraea family, maybe Red Clear-wing Butterfly (Acraea lia)

Agree, though to be precise, Acraea is a mostly afro-tropical genus of long-winged butterflies in the family Nymphalidae (Brush-footed butterflies). According to "Wildlife of Madagascar" by Behrens & Barnes, there are 18 sp. in Madagascar of which 10 are endemic.
