Hello everyone. First time joining a birding group. Been wanting to do this for a long time and finally took the plunge. I've left a message with the local Audubon group to try to tag along one of their field trips soon and would like to get more into it.

I've perused the forums a bit, mostly reading on different binoculars (that is apparently an explosive topic for some). Either way I've got what I consider a nice old 10x40 pair and am looking at 8x30 possibilities but I really need to just get out there before buying another set.

Funny thing is, I know next to nothing about birding, I just now I like looking at birds. Wife still thinks I'm a little nuts.
