Cracking days Birding in the Hide today, I got a message off Wali to say a Black Tailed Godwit was on the island in front of the hide, thirty minutes later I was sat in the hide with Richard Baker and Graham Vernon watching a cracking Blackwit, later joined by John Clarke, the Blackwit was constantly feeding I'd just took my eyes off the bird when I picked up a Turnstone flying towards the hide I called out the bird and all in the hide got onto it I didn't think it was going to land but it dropped on the shingle island with the Black Headed Gulls, by this time Matt Hadlington had turned up shortly followed by Wali Taylor and Craig Reed , I said to Craig jokingly find us a Med and a minutes later he said I've got one in the Scope, unbelievable, also turning up was Pete Hackett, Mark Dickinson and John Clarke came back for the Med, several other birders I didn't know came to look at the trio, later in the afternoon Dave Waite, Steve Lilly, Hughie King and Tim Hextell twitched the Trio. Also on veiw from the hide Oystercatchers x3, Common Sandpiper, Little Ringed Plover, Snipe,12 Lapwing and a Peregrine shot low over Forge Mill.

Popped down the valley to see the Turnstone, reasonable restricted views from the river path, but my how the trees & scrub has grown. No sign of the B.T. Godwit (19.35). Still very hot and humid.

Heavily cropped record pic below

Richard

P.S. Add to life list now 132, and poor year list 76

PPS 17 waders this year including Turnstone!
