Another of my ID nightmares - waders.
I think these are Lesser Yellowlegs, but I'd be grateful for a positive ID.
Birds seen in a small pond near San Francisco.

Greater for me to. The bill is long (to a certain degree overlapping with some Lessers),The rule is that the bill is approx equal to the head lengt in Lesser, to longer in Greater, measured in a perfect profile. However, no rule without an exception, some Lesser has a slightly longer bill. Lesser also have a more or less straight bill which is usually all dark while Greater has a heavier bill - slightly to obviously up-turned and with a paler base
Notice in the middle bird how the bill appear to be straight in the second pic.

Lovely photo,s of lesser and greater.. When I see a greenshank I think what similar features these birds have thanks for shareing.
