Jamaica: Rufous-tailed Flycatcher or Sad Flycatcher or ? (1 Viewer)

Hello!

I had some problems with flycatchers when I birded the forest just outside Ochos Rios in Jamaica in late December 2012.

Would you say this is a Rufous-tailed Flycatcher (Myiarchus validus) or Sad Flycatcher (Myiarchus barbirostris) or something else...
Can it be securely ID'ed from these pics at all?

Bird 1: 4 pics uploaded

Thanks, Peter

And here are two pics of another bird where my question is the same?

And a third similar case (3 pics)?

You need to remember Stolid Flycatcher as a third option (http://www.birdforum.net/opus/Stolid_Flycatcher), and the off chance for Great Crested as well.

Having said that, the middle bird looks like a Sad Fly to me; I do not have personal experience but compare with http://www.birdforum.net/opus/Sad_Flycatcher

The very last image looks like what I think the Rufous-tailed should look like: http://www.birdforum.net/opus/Rufous-tailed_Flycatcher, but seeing the difference to the other photos of the same bird I am not sure.

The first bird I am not sure about

Thank you njlarsen and timills. A great help! And nice pics in your report timills, seems like a great couple of birding days you had.

Can anyone ID bird no. 1 or are my photographic skills just too poor?

Best, Peter
