Durham Birding (2 Viewers)

There's no difference mate, just North Yorkshire is the capital of cruelty of England, look at the facts.
The Northern part of the NYM is completely dead regarding SEO, you never see them up there and it does say in the new Atlas that the Pennines which is also the Durham moors, is the closest to find these birds. I even asked the chaps when was the last time and were did they see a SEO, 1 friend who was with me that morning camping was his answer, then the rest was Hebs, Scotland (East Coast) myself last time was RSPB Saltholme 2012, its not the habitat but the people living/working on the NYMNP.

It looks like it was an absolutely great day's birding. The Diver photos are the best unpublished photos of them I've seen. :t:
 
Why is it that when you manage to connect with something posing for the camera the sky is flat grey - cracking views of this 'little un' east of Durham.. Wished there had been a bit of blue sky behind him :-C

Managed a couple of record shots of the Black Guillemot & spotted redshank today down Hartlepool/Teesside, other than that, not much about.
The Shore Lark was also reported, more or less in the same place.

The Black Guillemot was doing a great pose, splash and all. Shame it's only a record shot. Was it very far out?

Cheers James, It was still fairly distant, the photos are huge crops, It then headed back to the far side, where it was the other day. Scope distance :eek!:

Excellent set of shots Ray, going for the Shorelark and Black Guillemot on Friday but the SL can be elusive at times, know a few who missed out a couple of times and if I'm correct so can be the BG

Cheers Damian, even if the Shore lark is there, it takes some spotting, as it's well camouflaged against the rubble, especially if it's not moving. The guillemot, according to the chaps in the fish quay, has occasionally wandered around the moored trawlers, in the quay. good luck on Friday.
Oh! another problem, as the schools are off, there might be the odd scrambler about, if that's the case, you don't stand a chance with the lark.
 
Between 50 and 60 Black Grouse in the Langdon Beck area today.

South Shields today:
Very distant flock of 13 scoter off Sand-haven, sanderling, oyster catchers, cormorants etc. Crow harassing common gull, a few fulmars around French's bay, reed bunting and skylark on the leas, also caught up with the lonesome waxwing and still loads of berries for it.

Great action shot with the crow and the common gull!

I went to Hartlepool on Friday afternoon, but it was disappointing - I'd not checked the tides and it was high tide... :-C

Nice to get away from home for the afternoon though.

I think that is a Herring Gull being harassed. Fab photos Ray :t:
