Hen Harriers (1 Viewer)

We all like to see Hen Harriers but over the years I am seeing less and less of them as their numbers have fallen due to illegal persecution.

Dr Mark Avery has started a petition on the uk government petition page petition.parliament.uk/petitions/125003

In 7 weeks the number signing has already reached over 37,000 and it would be absolutely great if it reached 100,000 by 20 September to enable a debate in parliament.

If you haven't already signed and are a uk resident please do so and spread the word to help our hen harriers.

Many thanks

Joan

Yep, please do vote if you haven't already!

Apparently only one pair of HH left in England this year.

If you have already voted ask everyone else you know as well to sign especially other birders. I have managed to ask quite a few birders and have had a mostly positive response.

A real shame if what is happening here in the uk is affecting other countries as well as here. Used to be a time you could see hen harriers on a winter visit to Cley. Haven't seen an adult male hen harrier for several years now.

A real shame so please keep signing

Hope that wasn't near the grouse moor where 3 illegal pole traps were discovered recently and guess what the man filmed setting them is let off with a caution. Since they have been illegal for over a century why wasn't he charged?

Joan ( please sign the petition mentioned in first post)

Where was that, Joan?

You can read what the RSPB has said about the incident at RSPB.org.uk but it was in Yorkshire on an estate where the owner is well connected with the royal family in a atonal park.

Please sign the petition to ban driven grouse shooting at ow.ly/Jj7a300izgl and help spread the word. Petition heading towards 40,000 with a target of over 100,000 by about 19 September

Yes, here is an example:

Oh look, the Van Cutzem family involved here, as well as owning the estate on which the poletraps were recently found.

It doesn't look too good for hen harriers breeding in England this year see

And if like me you feel enough is enough please sign the petition linked to at beginning of thread to ban driven grouse moors
