350D upgrade - Noise problems in low light

I recently upgraded from the 300D to the 350D, and in most aspects am pleased with the upgrade, but have found that the 350D seems to have a lot more noise in lower light conditions than the 300D did. I am not the most technically savvy person, but I keep wondering if there's some kind of "sharpening" setting within the camera that I can take down a notch to reduce noise. Has anyone else had any similar experiences, or offer any insight?
