First one in the garden this morning. By no means annual all previous records are during the second half of April, this one being the first March record.

Had my first Blackcap - a male, last Friday, the 24rd March at my LP in the unseasonable sunshine. Sunny it was, warm it was not.

From my over wintering Blackcaps I have a pair left and every morning the male sings.
Brilliant.

My earliest Blackcap was a male 17/02 in Icklesham East Sussex in my girlfriends back garden.

I had a female pass through my back garden on 27/03 a new garden tick for me.

I saw a female at Amwell (Quarry) GP's Hertfordshire on 28/03.

Blackcap have been at Beddington Farm Surrey for a couple of weeks now. I saw a male today.

Regards

Kevin

Managed to photo a female one yesterday at Upton Warren, which was good... except I was trying to get a pic of a Cetti's at the time! It's here.

We spent the weekend visiting some woods and heard our first blackcap on Sunday and first willow warbler on monday. We were 'chiffchaffed' all the way round and had a picnic while being serenaded by a blackcap, chiffchaff, robin and two song thrushes. I love spring!
