Hello!

I'm excited to find this forum. I'm new to birding. I tagged along with my dad in the 1970's as we birdwatched in Maine. Finally, this summer, I wrapped my hands around my own pair of binoculars, a present for my 40th Birthday. I'm new to the New York area. I live just north of the Bronx. I can't believe how many species are to be seen readily. Is it because the wild spaces around here are so encroached upon? Is it the latitude? All I know is, more and more I find myself telling my fiance I'm gonna go birdwatching for an hour or two and 8 hours later I'm trucking it back home. I'm waiting for a new pair of Atlas Optics Intrepid ED 8x42's to arrive in the mail this week. Meanwhile I gotta get some work done around the house.

Photos taken with a Kodak EasyShare Z8612. I have no idea how to work a camera yet. I'm anxious to look around in the forum for some ideas on this and many other topics too. Thank you for maintaining this online community!

Hi vaubu and a warm welcome to you on behalf of the Staff and Moderators.

I love your picture of the loon (as you call them there .... hummph!) ;) I'll look forward to seeing some more of your pictures, hopefully in the Gallery too.
