Masked Shrike in Bulgaria...? (1 Viewer)

Dear friends,
searching in the birding literature i've not found exact informations about where to find Masked Shrike in the bulgarian region of Sakar... It is generally assumed that is better to hire a local guide for birdwatching in that particular area, but I actually lack the time to do so. In fact, i'll visit Sakar only for a few hours, drivng from Madjarovo (a well known birdin' locality in the south of the country...) to Burgas, on the Black Sea coast.

While I've never hoped in finding hints about Imperial Eagle (a very sensitive species; i hope i will see at least one of them overflying my car along the road...!), I found in the net at least some clues about Olive-tree Warbler's locations, but i never found infos about Masked Shrike!

Anyone did see a Masked Shrike along one of the many minor roads of Sakar or neibouring areas of southern central Bulgaria...? What about good birding areas in the Sakar region (excluding exact location for raptors, which I'm not interested about...)?

Thanks,
Igor Festari, Italy

When are you visiting? I'm in Bulgaria for the last three weeks of August. Outside the coast I have found site details very difficult to get but I will look through my gen when I get home for masked shrike information. Ironically it's much easier to get gen for even a relatively little visited South American country like Bolivia than it is for some EU countries like Bulgaria.
