I am constantly confused by the way information is presented on the Internet. When I look up Outram Bangs, I am finding all sorts of articles, bibliographies and such about him. However, in the obituary I read about him, it mentions that he and his brother Edward A. gathered a collection when they were young that eventually came to be known as the Collection of E. A. and O. Bangs. One would think that listing Edward's name first would mean that he is the more important brother. However, after the article that mentioned the brothers selling this collection, Edward drops COMPLETELY below the radar. I saw an article about a lawsuit that had the wording of their father's will, and their father did not even give Edward's full name. Does anyone know if Edward stayed in the field of ornithology as an adult, and, not to break with tradition, what does his middle initial stand for?

As an adult E. A. Bangs was a member of the Nuttal Ornithological Club Cambridge Mass. While at Harvard was also a member of the Hasty Pudding Club. His undergrad was in natural history but then went to Harvard Law school, he later became a lawyer. At Harvard he was a member of Animal House Delta Kappa Epsilon. He was eventually a member of the A.O.U.
