I'll be in Fuerteventura in a couple of weeks. Is there any point in trying seawatching, I'm thinking in terms of possibly seeing Cory's Shearwater. Or is it the wrong time of year?

Thanks,
Tom

A little early in the season - you might be lucky and see the first returning Shearwaters, but last week (and the few weeks before that), the sea was very quiet. A few Gannets and Sandwich Terns passing.....

Hi We were in Lanzarote in last week of Feb last year. Stayed in Playa Blanca which overlooks Fuertaventura. There were a fair few Cory's most days[seabirds are funnelled in between the straits between the two islands]
I reported 'The most prominent bird was Cory's Shearwater. I never did any serious counting but on the last day 24 passed by in a 20 minute spell. This was probably par for the course. Looking towards the lighthouse a Great Skua was seen on 27/2/16. Northern Gannet were few and far between but seen in small numbers every day.'
I took my scope and did a bit of sea watching most days.
Enjoy!
