Daventry Reservoir under threat (1 Viewer)

Hi All
It looks like plans to build 4000 dwellings near to Daventry Reservoir may be approved soon. Three and Four storey houses are to be built within yards of this Nationally important site which is classified as a Nature Reserve!
This web site - http://www.daventrycalling.org/ allows a download of the bird species at risk.
In addition to the impact on the birds which use Daventry Reservoir, local populations of Tree Sparrows, Skylarks and Yellowhammers will be completely displaced. The new development will result in the reservoir becoming largely surrounded by houses with all the associated human disturbance including noise and light pollution and cat predation.
I am guessing that the presence of these houses will have a marked impact on the population of birds which use this site for feeding or breeding - particularly perhaps some species.
Any views on the importance of this site and whether the houses will have an impact?
