Arctic or Common Tern? Titchfield Haven, June 2017. Had 2 chicks.

...you mean it's a common? I'm not so sure there really is a black tip to the bill.

I understand your conundrum because of the lack of a dark tip to the bill. However, this is a Common Tern - amongst other things the bill and legs are too long and the outer primaries much too dark for an Arctic. Also, AFAIK Arctic doesn't breed in Hampshire.

Yes, tail tip about equal to primary tips so along with other reasons Common Tern. Arctic has longer tail.��
