I'm David Krease, live in Cochrane Alberta Canada. Just cleaned my eight bird houses. One house had a blue bird in it and the other were tree swallows. I was so disappointed to see the number of baby birds, feathered but dead. Can anyone enlighten me as to why this would happen. Other years I rarely found dead baby birds?? Any help you can give me.??

Hi David and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

I'm sorry to hear about the dead baby birds, such a shame. I can't really answer your question though as there could be many reasons, such as the lack of insects to feed them, or the death of a parent.

Do you have any snakes around? I found a number of my adult Bluebirds deserted the nest box when a snake was below the box or trying to climb up the pole to the house. Babies wound up starving to death. :(

Hi David and a warm welcome to you from me in Myrtle Beach.

Hi David, welcome to the forum. I’m sorry I can’t help with the question, it is sad though.
