New Swarovski EL models (1 Viewer)

Current Swarovski 8.5x42 EL stock have the same focus mechanism. I understand this to be a mechanical issue - i.e. they couldn't make it faster due to the system of linkages used - rather than one of choice. On the smaller EL the same linear displacement of the internal focus lens (it sits behind the objective) will produce a greater change in focus due to the shorter focal length objective.

In my opinion it is an excellent focus mechanism with superb sensitivity for getting an accurate focus on fast moving birds such as House Martins. It can though be a bit fiddly for very close objects.
