Leica Trinovid 8x20 BCA = Leitz Trinovid Wetzlar 8x20 BCA (1 Viewer)

the Leica marked unit is newer...so has newer coatings... ect.........but basically the same unit....

The later Leica units are phase coated. The Leitz and old Leica units are not.

Recent Leica units also have dielectric coatings, as well as water/oil-shedding lens coatings.

These differences are not trivial!

P.S. My comments apply to production of the Leica 8x20 Trinovid. Officially, it is the same model, at least since the early 1990s, but gradual improvements have been made over the course of the model's production to the present.

In 1975 Leitz introduced the two compact Trinovid binoculars 8x20C and 10x22C.
In 1983 Leitz released an updated version, which were both internally and externally changed. The 10x22C was also replaced with a 10x25, which did not have the roll-down eyecups but fitted with pull up eyecups.. The designation for the new compacts was "BC". This range stayed in production until 1996. In 1992 two new compact models were released for the USA market: a 7x20B and a 9x25B. They were developed in conjunction with Leupold, were completely waterproof with individual eyepiece focussing..
In 1997 a special titanium edition was intorduced of the 8x20BC. In 1997 production started in Portugal.
