Opticron ED-X 8x42- anyone tried it? What do you think of it? (2 Viewers)

I personally don't think they are the strongest pair in the Opticron line-up. On the plus side they are small and light, have a wider view, and possibly a more neutral colour balance than others in the Opticron range. Of course they are backed by a 10 year Opticron warranty which is good. However I didn't think they could match their Japanese made pairs for sharpness, contrast and build quality. In spite of the ED glass I didn't think the CA control was the best I've seen.

David and I have had a 'chat' about them before and I must admit to his superior technical knowledge of all things optics. Personally, however, I found them to be a super pair of bins for under £300, though perhaps not as good as some of their Janapese counterparts I thought they performed incredibly well for the price. I am a huge believer, however, in trying before you buy. There is nothing anyone can say to you that compares to having a go yourself.
