Hi. Thank you for clicking through.
As you probably know, New York City is a major bird stopover during spring and fall migrations, and home to a significant number of species. However, there is no wildlife rehab center here.
We have the opportunity to get one through a contest Pepsi Cola is conducting in which nonprofits are given grants based on the votes they get from the public.
The Wild Bird Fund has worked its way up the list for grants of $250,000. You can see their proposal by going here http://www.refresheverything.com/wildbirdfund. Click "Vote for This Idea" and do the quick registration. Then click "Vote for this idea" again. (And take a look at some of the videos, if you have a few minutes.) Remember to bookmark the page: now that you're registered, you can go back to the site every day in October and vote for the center again in about a minute flat!
You're on this site, so you know how important this is. NYC Audubon is fighting the good fight for more bird-friendly buildings, but it's a big city and tens of thousands of birds are injured or killed here every year. Your vote can make a huge difference to many birds who need our help.
Thank you! And please pass this on!
Very best wishes,
Suzie Elliott
P.S. FYI, I am unaffiliated with the grant seekers, just acting on my own.
