One might be forgiven for thinking these are two different species, first image is of an adult Spring bird and the second a few days ago (presumed immature), an interesting variation in their respective bill structures, one looking almost ''shrikey'' and tother very slight and feminine?

Looks a very young bird with the bill not yet fully grown.

The adult in the first image also appears to have a very slightly overgrown lower mandible or something stuck to the end of it so increasing the apparent length.

Looks like he has a cross-bill.

Looks to me like a bit of food stuck to the tip of the bill; the mandible tips aren't crossed.
