Nikon Monarch 5 focus squeak, normal? (1 Viewer)

i just got a Monarch 5, 8x42.

The center focus squeaks. Is this normal? Will it stop when broken in?

Welcome to the Birdforum.

I would just give the focuser a workout, back and forth many times.
I have had some binoculars that are a bit tight at first, but after they get some
use they are just fine.

I hope that works out for you.

Must be. Mine did it for a month or so. But it has always worked brilliantly.

It was funny last year in Doñana, when my binoculars spooked a guy who was trying to identify the mystery bird

Mine did it for some time, which was kinda fun. A guy got crazy trying to find the strange bird

One day they just stopped. There was no focus problem at all, just the rubber making a bit of noise with the focus wheel
