Look on the upper left hand section of the pic. Does it not look like a black tail with a blue outer tail?

It is just water coming over the spillway though.

Hi Chris, yes and no, depending which Taxonomy you follow. Green and Striated Herons have been split; and I think it may be that the different subspecies will be further split.
