ID in Georgia USA....bad picture, good story

This is is a horribly blurry photo, but you have surprised me before with your ability to make IDs from blurry pictures, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Story behind the photo: I work at home and one day last week heard a terrible ruckus outside the window....all kinds of birds protesting loudly. The last time I heard a similar noise it was due to the neighbor's cat hanging around under the tree. This time the was noise level was even louder. I looked out the window and there was no cat, but the birds were going absolute batty over something. I looked and looked and finally saw the cause of their distress....there was a 5 foot rat snake in the tree. It was fascinating to watch how many different types of birds were joining in the attack....multiple titmice, chickadees, cardinals, at least one black-and-white warbler, and then was one bird I did not recognize. The attached photo was taken through the screen of the bird I could not identify...any ideas?

After about 20 minutes the birds gave up, and the snake took a interest in what I was doing (I had to pry the screen off of the window in order get better shots....by the time I did this most of the birds had moved on.) The snake watched me and moved to a branch very close to the window and I got a funny shot of him looking right at me...I'm attaching that one also just kicks.

Sorry for the long post...it was an interesting even to watch and maybe I saw a new bird for me in the process...if anyone can ID this bird thanks in advance!

I'm almost sure that your bird is a House Finch. Its amazing how loads of little helpless fluffballs can gang up on enemies! when you hear the scolding sounds of multiple birds coming from a specific area, it is most likely an owl, cat, snake, or other larger predators

I also think it is a House Finch. That Rat Snake is cool!

Interesting...I have never seen a house finch at our feeders. It's surprising to me that one would be here at the house but yet not coming to the feeders. We keep black oil sunflower seed in both feeders....do house finches eat that?
