Hello everyone,
There has been quite a fuss regarding the disappearance of that harrier!
I just have something to say about this: it is possible, however unlikely, that the tag on the harrier simply failed. Last summer, I was in a Russian nature reserve, and was part of a team that went all over the place looking for a young WTE which got itself into similar circumstances. The bird was fitted with a satellite tag, and it suddenly disappeared. We found no trace of it despite looking for many hours, and it was presumed "very likely dead". Three months later, I get an email saying that the bird had been found- though in a completely different location. So the only way to confirm is to see if it still nests at the site. If it is- I am right. If not, I am wrong, but who would want to kill it in that case? If anyone has something to add, do NOT mention the name of that site.
