Cleaned some Shrine Manon 7x35s (8 degree variant).
This is an interesting one feature-wise. On the outside, it looks
like a Bushnell Custom / Mirador relative, with the nice steel
ocular cells and the wide rangemaster-like spread. It has the
amber-plus multi-coating and the color is really neutral. I has not
one but two ribbed, stopped sections up front for contrast.
It is very sharp. The mechanical details are super nice and solid.
It uses silicone grease...fantastic when it's 10F outside.
I did have to fix and Loctite the focuser clamp...
what is it with these goodwill donors? It fixed up extremely solid.
The field slips focus at 90% of 8 degrees, though,
and the depth of field is surprisingly low. Aha:
It's a little Kellner hiding in a Custom-type threaded cell.
I like these. 8 degrees is much nicer than 7. The stray light suppression
and true color were really useful in the real world today, bright overcast
and white snow everywhere. But they are not stealth-Customs or twins.
They do beat SportViews. Sort of an in-between quality.
I checked them against the special 9.3 degree 7x25 Bush. Ensign...
it pushed them aside and it even has decent suppression up front.
There is a Zen gateway for a logo and a little compass on the hinge end.
