Nice catchlight in the eye. Why not go in closer - the 'head on fire' look from the low angle is striking
 
Quite nice. I've never managed to get one that close.

It's always good to give the bird a little room in front of the bird's face, so in this case, you may want to zoom out a little to keep the feet in, and recompose so that the bird is mainly on the left and looking into the open space, or as ermine said, go for a portrait.
 
Thanx everyone......Leica D-Lux 3, Televid 77.......I had to set up with the light on the bird and of course I was in a panic.......I was too close with my Televid 77.....couldn't get the whole bird and had to keep the head in the bright area.......still, I was thrilled
 
Superb pictures, I agree with Birderbf, but you did the best that your equipment allowed, you can't do better than that !! Well done.
