Hi folks, thanks for the Peregrine ID the other day. Got this beauty this afternoon over peat fields, quartered, tried hovering, dived down into shrubland for its kill. Harrassed by Hooded Crows.
There are infinitely variable plumages of Common Buzzard about at this time of year but ground colour and proportions should rule out anything else - certainly in the UK:t:
thanks everyone for the info - I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets confused by Buzzard plumage variations (and gulls and waders etc) , but it can be so frustrating.
