Preventing cats from killing birds (1 Viewer)

Some time ago on Birdforum we discussed the concept of bird-safe outdoor enclosure for cats to exercise. To my surprise, such enclosures are for sale in Canada already. They are marketed under the name 'catio' or cat patio. There are also meshes to keep a cat inside your garden - or make your garden cat-proof. Here is the information from BirdLife:

And yes, cat predation is indeed significant enough to lower bird numbers.

Now, we need an idea to keep rural cats kept in barns or farm buildings from roaming in the forests or meadows.
