It might be a good idea to get yourself a bird I D book for your area.

As someone who buys field guides for places I never even expect to visit - just to see the diversity of birds - I endorse this suggestion. Like everyone of my generation I learned to identify birds by studying field guides to the local ones. But there are new ways of learning now, and one is to take photos and ask for help identifying them. If that works for you, please to not hesitate to keep posting here.
