SF and rolling ball (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I thought, from what I have read, that the SFs are not prone to rolling ball but, during a very brief trial of the 8x42s, I saw strong RB while panning sideways across the edge of a woodland.

Most off putting. I wouldn't buy the SFs becuase of it.

Was I mistaken in thinking that the SFs are thought of by most as free of RB?

Or am I unusual in seeing RB in the SFs?

SFs were indeed designed to minimise RB but a few people have reported it. I am using an 8x and 10x and don't see it in either.
Some people who have noticed it in Swaros get used to it and don't notice it when actually birding, so this could happen with you and SFs.

Glad to hear it's not just me that sees it in the SFs. I think I am sensitive to RB though. I see it at unbearable levels in the SVs. I'm not convinced that I'd learn to live with it in the SFs either.

I think if I went for a latest greatest alpha it would have to be an Ultravid plus.

Shame about the Sfs though. I love that wide fov. Just like my FL 7x42s. So amazingly wide.
