Hello from Colombia

Hello

I've always loved nature, and seen countless nature documentaries, and over the years I had glimpsed once or twice a hummingbird feeding from a blooming aloe vera plant in my patio. Last December my wife got us a hummingbird feeder, and the birds that came got the frenzy started.

We then added a birding day guided-tour to our january vacation trip, and we came home birders.

The guide told us our home region is big for birding (which we didn't know), and told us about a birding fair that was coming in February, which we took advantage of for a couple of field trips.

Long story short, the damage is done. I'm hearing stuff I didn't notice before (and now there's a couple of birds I can recognize by sound), my wife is getting good at visually identifying them (with the help of our new "field guide of Colombian birds"). I'm enhancing our garden to attract birds other than hummingbirds (and a Coereba flaveola is making me super happy!).

So here I am, saying hello from Colombia, South America

Hi Adun and a warm welcome from me too.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.

Bananaquits are rather nice birds to have!! Good luck with your new venture, exciting times ahead for you.

Hi again Adun

Unfortunately there are a few restrictions placed on new members, which you can read more about here.

The time will soon pass, I'm sure.
