Called in at RSPB Sandwell Valley to have a gander at the Barnacle goslings. Brilliant!! 2 pairs with 3 & 4 young and at least 5, maybe 6 other adults. Are there more young to appear? They disappear into the foliage like the starship Enterprise using its ’cloaking device’. Are there many other records of these birds staying to breed in the uk?

I fully suspect these are feral breeding birds rather than diner migrants who have decides the linger - there is a regular all-year round flock in Edgbaston as an example

What a loverly surprise, I think I would prefer to be a Feral chick, born on Terra Ferma, rather than jumping of cliffs and being scavaged by Foxes and the like in their true home!
