A little tricky this one. What, and where I guess is the question. Taken on the other side of the valley from my house, and within the Welsh Government’s 5 mile guidelines.

Nope Pete. It’s a spring visitor. When I resized the picture it made it a lot harder.

Ok. Executive decision. The bird you’re looking for is a Cuckoo. And with the lack of definition it’s still really hard.

Ok. Almost impossible I guess. Not a good enough original picture. The cuckoo was sat on the the post, just in from the fence line, in the middle of the picture. Here it is zoomed in.

In an effort to make it harder because you lot are so good, I may have gone too far.

A much easier one. Well at least you can see the bird this time.

Taken within 5 miles of my home this morning. No cheating please Carol and Andy.

And just to remind everyone that I live in South Wales, UK.

I imagine spring Rosefinch is still a prized bird in UK, the one my son and I heard from our garden very early one May morning in the 1990s at Selsey Bill, then managed to find it on the old Pontins site ranks as my best British birding event, I remember going round and waking up the ex-recorder for Sussex so he and his wife could dash down to the Bill to see it!

A first for me both. I’d have been landed with a female but to get the Male was something else. Found by a local birder at Pant y Sais Fen yesterday.

Lovely! I know they’re not mega rare on the islands like Bardsey or Skokholm, but I imagine it’s still very rare on the mainland in Wales?

Was with a couple of birders with huge lists who hadn’t had a local one before Rich. Though apparently there’s been one on the Gower before.
