Question Hello, parabolic dish question

Greetings,
I'm looking for advice or views on quality parabolic dishes. Particularly: what kinds of quality difference there exists between a solid and roll-up parabolic dish?
I see there are other 'gear' queries in this forum and often members are referred to a Yahoo group. Please let me know if I should do the same.
Thank you!

Hi pliny45,

It's some time since I did any sound recording in the field, but I used a Sony PCM-D50 with a microphone mounted at the focus of an aluminium dish approx 30cm diameter (made from parabolic infra-red heater). I'd expect a "roll-up" dish to have poorer low frequency performance, but this may not matter that much as I expect that's controlled by the dimensions of the dish.

Have fun... and welcome.
