Sony DVD Handycam 405 (1 Viewer)

buckskin hawk

Oklahoma Birder
For business purposes I am thinking of purchasing a DVD camcorder and have been investigating the Sonys. My daughter and I train, lease and sell horses and need to capture the movement of the horse over the jumps and around the barrels etc. I am by no means a techy type and would like the advice.

1. Any thoughts on if I could capture shots of birds? Like at a feeder?

I understand from my reading that I can capture still pics also. I am not after the high quality type but I want just enough to see which sparrow I've got.

2. Could I use this to take a picture of a duck- lets say, 50 yards away?

3. Money is always a factor for school teachers so is there that much difference between the 405 and the 301 etc?
