homemade cable release CP4500 (1 Viewer)

I've read in a couple of threads about people who use homemade cable releases on their Coolpix 4500's. Can anyone give me some advise on how to go about this so I can give it a try.
Thanks guys :h?:

Steve

Actually you can buy a generic adapter for standard cable release for $3. This adapter connects to the tripod socket of the camera and you use a standard cable release.
