Namibia has been a wonderful family vacation. While birding hasn't been my main focus, I did manage to already rack up 77 different species, 68 year birds and 10 lifers. And, we still have a few days to go!

And that's it, two more birds for the year -- with the Namaqua Sandgrouse being a lifer -- and finishing at 229.

My lowest yearly total in a long time, so i will want to put in some more effort in 2020.

Coming in a bit late here (as always), still jetlagged from traveling through the holidays. 2019 was no doubt a tough year for me personally. I was unsatisfied with my year total as the year came to close, having pretty much stopped birding from April through November.

But India brought new life to my year’s birding. It is truly a spectacular country in every way: biodiversity-wise, culturally, culinarily, architecturally, historically, religiously - I was beyond blown away spending a month bouncing around this magical place. If someone told me before I arrived that I would end up cresting over 600 species for the year, I wouldn’t believe it. But it happened! Along with 160 lifers (not including January), here’s how:
