Please can anyone provide specific site directions for PE when at Fermyn - i.e. where to park and then look?

Also the same for White Ad.

Do these two require full and constant sun to show, or will sunny intervals do the trick - i.e. do you still stand a chance of seeing one at rest in a tree if cloudy?

Thanks.

Can't speak or the UK, but here at least sunny intervals will get them out and about, so long as it remains warm.

I guess you stand a better chance of seeing them with open wings when it's not too sunny/warm... although when I've seen them with open wings they were usually high above me!
After two years of only seeing them up in trees (all in the London area), I had one on my (obviously sweaty) finger yesterday. This one would only open its wings (shortly) after some gentle poking against it legs.

Go out for butterflies in the same dirty trousers for several days, preferably hot sweaty days, Purple Emperors (and various fritillaries) regularly land to take salts.
