Norfolkman gone walkabout
I was just looking through pictures of the stour valley on the flickr website when I came across this photo of a raptor.

I get the impression from the guys photo stream that it was a chance encounter,and by a non birder.

I think it's a common buzzard but not sure?,the dark patch around the
neck would suggest an adult male?,(according to the collins book)

It's almost impossible to sex CB other than by some fairly subtle structural differences, which can probably only be used reliably when you have birds of both sexes together for comparison.

No differences between sexes apart from size according to Identification guide to European Non-Passerines by Kevin Baker
 
Thanks for those comments folks,

To be honest,when I first saw the photo I thought it looked quite falcon like,then looking at the bulk and posture of the bird I eventually came up with buzzard,these birds are still quite scarce in this part of norfolk.
