Baker, Oregon birding (1 Viewer)

I'm looking at putting a family trip to Baker together (my partner's father came from here and I thought she might like to see the 'hometown').

What's the birding potential?

I've been to the area, even stayed in Baker, but not as a birder. However, the Blue and Wallowa Mountains are fairly close, as is the John Day River area. If you're there in the fall, there are lots of morel mushrooms picked by the locals. If you can get some, they're unbelievably delicious!

Lurking on the Oregon birding listserve might help as well. You can contact some of the birders in that state about specific opportunities.
