New binoculars required. (1 Viewer)

If you are thinking towards getting two binoculars, then do check out the Meostar 12x50HD as well, if you get to Harrogate.

Hi,

while the Meopta is certainly a nice piece of glass, I would only consider it with a tripod.
Few people can hold a 12x pair steady enough for a longer time to actually profit from the higher magnification - some have those difficulties even at 10x. So please try before you buy with these - and take your time...

And if you lug around tripod, why not go higher with a scope?

I would make an exception for the stabilized Canons - they work well and can sometimes replace a scope.

Joachim,

Paul mentioned he wanted the higher power for the house. I actually found the 12x50 pretty steady, but tripod was better of course. Just steadying the binoculars against a window pane was almost as good.... providing you have modern windows. Most of my house is 19th centruy with windows to match. Totally hopeless!
